For example, STEM a major factor when it comes to renewable energy. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, by 2050, solar and wind on its own can provide more than 80% of the world's electricity supply. The results of engineering and technological innovation are reducing carbon emissions.

 

In healthcare, technologies, such as telemedicine have been on the rise, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. A survey showed that 76% of patients were satisfied with their telehealth experience- showing how much advancements in STEM can greatly improve lives by making healthcare more accessible.

 

Besides, since technology increasingly becomes a part of life, basic STEM skills will be required as well. With such expertise in the field, everything from online banking to data privacy will be necessary for everyone to understand.


The Economic Impact of STEM

 

STEM fields are also the backbone of the economy. STEM professionals are in high demand, and STEM jobs are likely to increase by 8% over the decade ahead, outpacing the rate of growth for other fields.

 

 According to statistical data, the median annual compensation for software developers has been close to about $112,620 as of 2021, whereas the national average is considerably less than this median wage. So investment in STEM education helps forthcoming generations take up this well-paying job with full force and ensures that innovation within an economy propels further economic development.

Introducing STEM concepts early in the educational system is crucial for cultivating analytical skills in future innovators. Schools are increasingly emphasizing on STEM in the curriculum, which include hands-on, interactive learning through experiments, coding, and robotics.
